TIP 1:    EVOLVE

The digital agenda moves forward at an ever-increasing pace. What we did last year is out of date, either by tech, new process or lessons learnt. Show you can be agile and adaptable. Change and disruption go hand in hand. Demonstrate control within the chaos, and don’t be afraid to move with or ahead of the times.

 

TIP 2:    LISTEN

BIM talk, there is a lot of it about, too much maybe? Some good some bad. Listen and observe what goes on. Extract only what you need, don’t be drawn in by buzzwords and gobbledygook. Always talk common sense.

 

TIP 3:    BEST PRACTICE

Again, concentrate on what is pertinent and applicable to you and your sphere of influence. Apply common sense and good working practices at all times. Learn by failure (and there is some!). Use the standards (ISO19650 & PAS1192) to create your path, it is individual. Your journey will not be the same as others.

 

TIP 4:    KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE

The way forward to easy adoption of BIM is engagement and buy in. If you demonstrate your methodology is simple, saves time or gives added value you are halfway there. Give the ‘light bulb’ moment, no hard sell required.

 

TIP 5:    GADGETS

Don’t go overboard on using as much tech as possible. Gadgets are great, but they are not a Harry Potter magic wand. (Maximus BIMicus).  Use the arsenal of digital tools to solve real world problems to create efficiency. Establish your knowledge and be confident in your ability.
