THE BIM SALARY HEAT MAP
The heat map is simply a visual illustration of how supply and demand influences salary.
Instead of a complicated grid of text, we use the key below to calculate a score based on supply and demand. For example, if a ‘competent’* BIM Coordinator is in high demand but low supply, the score will be 9.
The colour coding helps visualise how ‘hot’ the pressure will be on salaries to rise.
Up until the current quarter (indicated by the arrow at the top) the map is a good way of recording historical data. Beyond is a ‘best guess’ based on our experience of recruitment trends in the construction industry since 1988 and what could happen if recovery remains on target.
Competency levels are a good way of assessing how much skill has been acquired in a particular role. They are important to understanding the variation in salary within roles.
