BIMBeing: The Journey #3

#3 – It’s DC Week…

That’s right, it’s Digital Construction Week. The annual FREE event for all things digital in our diverse world of making things.

If you’re a junior, get yourself down there!

If you’re a senior, get yourself down there!

Also, let your juniors go, you can’t have all of the fun without them. Better still, go with them! There’s plenty for all to absorb at this event.

I’ve been attending DCW for a number of years now and each year I come away with at least one follow-up. Whether that be a process to review, a new contact I’ve made or a new piece of software to investigate – there is always something to have piqued my interest. Several pieces of software that we now use daily on our projects were first introduced to us at DCW.

These FREE events are a fantastic opportunity to network. So, go out there, meet some people, learn something new and broaden your knowledge of the industry as a whole. It’s all too easy to get encapsulated in the bubble of our daily slog; it’s important to break free every once in a while and see what everybody else is up to.

Caution: You’ll find plenty of salespeople at these events too! You don’t need to take home everything that you see. If you’re designing a new garden shed for example, the chances are you don’t need a robotic crane to assemble it or an auto-piloting drone to survey it. Your finance department certainly won’t thank you for that.

Not sure what to go and see at the event? Don’t worry, we’ve got that covered! https://www.dbe.careers/uncategorised/digital-construction-week-recommended-seminars-for-the-career-centric/

Did I mention that the event is FREE? FREE! Absolutely everyone loves a FREEbie. No excuses then. Register online and get out of the office. You certainly won’t see me there, but I may see you…
