From Lloyd Connors: BIM Manager at Airey Miller
My thoughts on DCW this year:
Having the opportunity to present on the subject of Asset Data and the Golden Thread at this years’ Digital Construction Week was a real privilege. In it we talk about our project journeys, the challenges, but most importantly the simple concept of controlling and using data. Interoperability at its core with no sign of specific silo mentality. By simply using basic attributes and descriptions, which are actually in PAS/ISO, we can transform dodgy data into something that can be used. GUID’s and API’s are now a part of everyone’s daily lives and bringing these to client databases is nearly the norm now too! Excellent.
Digital thinking in construction is great and was summed up at DCW, it’s a melting pot of some of the most efficient organisations and people wanting to get the absolute most out of every aspect of what they do. Whether that be a PDF in the right place or a GliderBIM, BIMEYE, Viewpoint style solution, the objective is all the same and that is to get the best return, improve the working space for people and ultimately build safe, sustainable and happy homes. Happy Homes! Surely that has to be what it’s all about?
On now to BIM Show Live and EcoBuild. We are lucky!
