The stuff we found most interesting for the BIM career centric this week.

BIM Career Ladder update: The BIM Competency Assessment report has been improved. For anyone not getting the support they need to progress, it now links to relevant career opportunities.

The latest from Mr.Smith, a BIMBeing. Psalm #13 is about how worthless BIM accreditations are. I couldn’t agree more BUT blame the clients I say. Give anyone an easy way to confirm competency and they will take it. A few years ago the BIM Compass was created to assess corporate BIM Capability based on real experience. Clients loved it. But why didn’t it take off? Because it required the clients to back it – to get involved and insist on it being used by the supply chain. They wouldn’t. Much easier to leave it to others. So they get arm wavers and law suits.

And, psalm #14 – you may not be the IT guy, but if you can help then why not? It’s incredible that BIM specialists are still being asked to plug in the printer. Why isn’t the boardroom ensuring the whole business is enlightened? Is it because IT specialists cost more than BIM ones?
